Guide · care and storage

Mould storage and shelf life.

A good silicone mould lasts a long time if it is stored well. Most early failures come from how moulds are kept, not how they are used.

The guide

Mould storage and shelf life.

01

Clean and dry before storing

Store moulds clean and fully dry. Moisture trapped in deep cavities is the most common cause of smells and marks.

02

Store flat

Lay moulds flat and supported. A tray stored folded or bent can keep that shape.

03

Keep them cool and dark

Away from ovens, radiators and direct sunlight. Heat and UV age silicone over time.

04

Don't stack heavy things on top

Weight on a stored mould can flatten fine cavity detail.

05

Seasonal moulds

Easter and Christmas moulds spend most of the year on a shelf. Wrap them loosely in clean film or a lidded box so they come out ready to use.

06

When to replace

Tears, thinning at corners, stickiness or a permanent change in shape all mean it is time. If we made it, we can make another from file.
